OUR STRATEGY FOR CORPORATE COMMUNICATIONS PROFESSIONALS
Thomson Reuters enables corporate communications professionals to communicate with their internal and external stakeholders around the globe using a suite of web-based tools.
Today, we offer discrete solutions targeted at specific segments of the corporate communications markets: these include PR, employee communications and board communications. By early 2009, we will be able to introduce a communications platform for the whole enterprise which will power internal and external communications for all these users. To achieve this, we plan to bring together the media brand asset of Reuters along with its global media channels and integrate these onto the Thomson platform with its online press rooms, investor relations web sites, streaming solutions, on-demand video services, video production services, and a secure board portal to provide a unique communication solution and distribution capability for the enterprise. This will enable best-in-class internal and external web-based communications:
Desktop
In October of this year, we will introduce a more scalable, lower priced ‘lighter’ version of our iShowcase platform, which combines audio, video and Flash animation. We will also introduce enhanced 'executive level' event reporting with combines market data, analytics, market commentary with event results.
Enterprise
At the beginning of 2009, we will launch our rich media enterprise content management solution. This solution, with uploading and viewing functionality similar to that of YouTube, will enable audio and video self-service, search and tagging of rich media, and distribution of content internally and externally.
Reuters News
This provides a unique distribution channel specifically for corporate communications professionals aiming to reach the media. In early 2009, we will distribute our client communications via Reuters TV. By mid-2009, we will distribute our customers' communications to the desktops of our more than 24,000 reporters. Though this will not guarantee news coverage, it will provide increased media visibility for our customers. We also plan to deliver significant enhancements to our audio webcast platform in mid-2009, which will immediately impact over 25,000 disclosure events each year.
What this means for you
These solutions will enable corporate communication professionals to:
Reaching your external audiences
Our streaming solutions will allow you to deliver business-critical information to external audiences using website solutions, streaming video and collaborative/document management capabilities. You can reach 51,000 institutional and millions of retail investors, as well as distributing content to the Thomson Reuters media community. Investors increasingly say that a corporate leader’s personal appeal ‘positively’ influences their investment decisions. Executives must become the face of their company.
Measure performance
Measure the impact of communications by combining our market data, analytics, and event reporting to provide insight that is actionable – much more than just an attendee list.
Manage business critical information
Board members currently use the internet to send confidential information and communicate with committee members. A highly secure, web-based collaboration and document management solution is an essential component of good corporate governance. This tool provides directors with timely and secure access to critical company and business intelligence, resulting in improved board oversight and reduced risk.
Increase employee engagement
This is increasingly a major concern for the CEO. Our communications solutions can significantly enhance internal communications in the enterprise. For example, people generally remember 10% of what they read, but 50% of what they see and hear simultaneously. (Source: Albert Mehrabian, ‘Silent Messages’). At Thomson Reuters we use our own iShowcase tool for our internal events.
