David Schlesinger

Editor-in-Chief, Reuters News

David SchlesingerDavid Schlesinger is the Editor-in-Chief of Reuters News at Thomson Reuters, where he oversees all of Thomson Reuters editorial operations and strategy. Mr. Schlesinger was appointed Reuters Editor-in-Chief in January 2007, and before that, was the company's Global Managing Editor. Prior to his appointment, Mr. Schlesinger was Executive Vice President and Editor of the Americas.

Mr. Schlesinger joined Reuters Hong Kong bureau in 1987 as a correspondent. From 1989 to 1995, he ran Reuters editorial operations in Taiwan, China and the Greater China region in a series of posts. Mr. Schlesinger then transferred to New York to serve as Financial Editor and Managing Editor for the Americas.

Prior to joining Reuters, Mr. Schlesinger wrote for a variety of publications from Hong Kong and had an early career as a teacher.

Mr. Schlesinger is a Director for the Reuters Foundation and a Director for the Dannenberg Oberlin-in-London Program. Mr. Schlesinger is also a board member of the International News Safety Institute.

Mr. Schlesinger graduated from Oberlin College and has a Masters degree from Harvard University, where he concentrated on Chinese politics.
