Scott & White Health Plan Licenses Medstat Advantage Suite® from Thomson Reuters

Healthcare Decision Support System Will Be Deployed to Enhance Care Management Services and Reporting of Business Intelligence

Ann Arbor, MI  June 27, 2008 – Scott & White Health Plan has licensed Medstat Advantage Suite®, a healthcare decision support system from Thomson Reuters, under a three-year contract.

Medstat Advantage Suite combines a customized repository of healthcare insurance claims and other data with data-mining software and a comprehensive set of analytic tools. The system generates business intelligence and benchmarks that health plans, large employers, and government agencies use to analyze and manage the cost and quality of healthcare delivered to their beneficiaries.

Scott & White Health Plan, established in 1982, serves 220,000 members in 34 counties in central Texas. It is affiliated with the Scott & White Health Care System. It will use the decision support system’s analytical, reporting, and predictive modeling capabilities to:

  • Evaluate the collective healthcare experience of its members, understand the factors driving healthcare costs, and measure the cost effectiveness and quality of care.
  • Stratify its membership and identify members who would benefit from care management services.
  • Disseminate business intelligence that helps Scott & White leadership and managers make well-informed decisions.

“At Scott & White Health Plan, we are focused on effectively managing our operations and delivering exemplary service to our members — and this is a significant step that will give our managers the critical information they need to do that,” said CEO Allan Einboden. “We evaluated all our options for a healthcare decision support system and concluded that Medstat Advantage Suite delivered the best capabilities and value.”
