K-1 distribution: taxpayer instructions

Taxpayers will have the option to distribute their K-1s electronically or download and mail the copies.

The taxpayer can only distribute K-1s after the return has been signed.
The taxpayer will receive an email notification if the K-1 recipient declines to consent to receive the documents electronically.

Access Return

Complete the 1st steps of the Client Experience before you have access to distribute the K-1s. Follow these steps if you have already completed all steps and need to re-access the return.

SelectLet's Get Started in the email sent to you by your tax firm.
Select Get Started.
Select Send Code to receive an access code.
Enter the code that was sent to you via email or phone and select Confirm.
Select Distribute K-1's on the summary page.

Distribute K-1s Electronically

K-1 recipient email addresses can't be uploaded in bulk for returns; however, they can be entered and updated individually.

Distribute

Select Send Electronically on the K-1 distribution dashboard.
Select Edit Partner Details in the Action column.
Enter the shareholder's email address in the Update K-1 Partner Details window.
- An email address is required before a K-1 package can be delivered.
- If a mobile number is added, the Access Codes are sent by text.
Select Save .
Select K-1 packages.
- If you Select All, the K-1s on the current page and any additional pages are selected.
Select Email Documents.
View the Status of delivered K-1s.

Download All K-1s

All the K-1 packages are downloaded into 1 PDF.

Select Download.
Select Download All K-1s.

Download Selected K-1s

The K-1s are downloaded as separate PDF files in a ZIP file.

Mark the checkbox for each K-1.
Select Download.
Select Download Selected K-1s.

Mail Hard Copies

Select Mail Hard Copies on the K-1 distribution dashboard.
- Documents can be downloaded individually or in bulk.

Download Individual K-1s

The K-1 is downloaded as a single PDF to your browser's default location.

Locate the K-1 to be downloaded.
Select the Download option in the Action column.

Download Multiple K-1 Packages

The K-1s are downloaded to your browser's default location.

Mark the checkbox next to the K-1 packages to be downloaded.
Select Download to select how you would like to download the K-1s.
1. Select Download All K-1s to download all K-1s for each shareholder into 1 PDF.
2. Select Download Selected K-1s to download each checked K-1 as a separate PDF in a ZIP file.

When K-1s are downloaded, the documents either go directly to the default download location on your PC or go to the My Downloads folder inside of SafeSend.

If there are many files or very large files, they go to the My Downloads folder in SafeSend.

Select your entity name.
Select My Downloads.
