Engagement Manager 27 September, 2024 release notes

Engagement Manager Office Client Add-in update to version 24.2

An updated version of the
Engagement Manager Office Client Add-in
is available. Make sure to download and install the latest version from the
Setup
,
Downloads
page within Engagement Manager. The new version of the add-in renames the automation part of the add-in to reflect Engagement Manager instead of AdvanceFlow. It also fixes some recalculation errors caused by invalid formulae in Word or Excel files to be ignored.

Add pop-out window icons to navigation

In the navigation menu in the engagement workspace, there are new shortcut icons next to each of the engagement areas (Workpapers, Trial balance, etc.). You will only see them if you expand the navigation menu. This allows you to pop out 1 work area to a new browser tab while keeping the other area open.
For example, you can be working on the journal entries tab, and select the pop-out shortcut on the trial balance tab. The trial balance tab pops out to a new window and then you can have the trial balance tab and journal entries tab open simultaneously without losing your place on the journal entry.
The benefit of this feature drives efficiencies specifically with multi-monitor configurations, allowing you to select the browser tab and drag over to a secondary monitor to have views of both work areas.

Client communication improvements

  • You are now able to delete multiple contacts in bulk.
  • The
    Edit
button is removed from the actions column of the
    Manage
columns screen. Select the contact name to edit the contact.
  • When adding an attachment to a document request, a drawer component is used on the application.
  • When adding, editing, or viewing comments, a drawer component on the side is used.
  • When adding an attachment from the workpapers tab, a side drawer component is used with a more efficient look and feel.

Batch changes to engagement tax subcodes

In the
Setup
,
Tax codes
screen at the firm level, if you select a code and select edit, you can now mark a checkbox that allows you to update the description on all matching codes at the engagement level.
During the week of beginning 30 September after further testing we plan to unhide a new
Merge
button in the toolbar of the
Setup
,
Tax codes
screen at the firm level. This allows you to choose a source code, then select merge and select a destination code to merge into. This will delete the originally selected code and keep the destination code at the firm level and engagement level. All accounts that were assigned to the source tax subcode will be reassigned to the destination tax subcode in all engagements of the same vendor and entity type.
This helps to correct some issues where some accounts appeared to be part of the same code prior to the August update. However, they were assigned to different codes that were duplicates in the database and had different descriptions. This helps resolve and fix those issues where the duplicates were renamed across all engagements.

Improved upload speed adding workpapers from external

When files larger than 95 MB are uploaded using
Add workpaper
from external or drag and drop, the files will upload 90 percent faster.

Engagements dashboard renamed to home

The
Engagements dashboard
screen has been renamed to home. This makes it more consistent with the navigation in the breadcrumb of the application.

Secondary sort added to the breadcrumb navigation

When selecting the
Engagement Name
,
Current Period
option in
Preferences
, the engagements are first sorted by the engagement name, then sorted by the latest date to the earliest date as a secondary sort.

Engagement-specific tax subcodes issues resolved

  • When integrating engagement level subcodes with UltraTax 2022 and earlier, the proper subcode description is imported instead of the code description.
  • We've corrected an issue during the spreadsheet import that would cause some tax subcodes to be treated as numbers in the column-mapping step of the wizard. This may have prevented letter characters from being manually entered. The issue may also have caused leading zeros or decimals to be added to the tax subcodes visually on the screen.
  • We've corrected an issue that was preventing specific engagements from being copied when using the
    Add engagement
and choosing the source of existing. In some cases, the engagement subcodes were not copied from 1 engagement to another when the trial balance accounts were included.
  • When adding a custom Excel tax code report and choosing a range of tax codes, the filter properly applies and shows only tax codes in the range.
  • When assigning tax subcodes to accounts in the trial balance, the dropdown menu reflects the sort order of the
    Setup
    ,
    Tax subcodes
    screen at the engagement level.
  • Firm-level tax subcodes can now be deleted without regard to if accounts are assigned to the subcode at the engagement level.
  • When using the
    Assign tax code
option from the right-click menu in the
    Trial Balance
screen, the M-3 code option properly shows M-3 codes in the field.
  • We've corrected an issue and error when updating values in the cell within the spreadsheet import wizard in the Budget balance column.
  • We've added error messaging that prevents special characters from being used for tax subcodes. Only alphanumeric characters are allowed.
  • When using the pop-out mode of the trial balance and then going to
    Setup
    Tax codes
, the title bar and navigation tab will now remain hidden.
  • We've added more clear messaging when attempting to import a tax subcode that is more than 3 characters in the trial balance spreadsheet import.

Miscellaneous issues resolved

  • There are safeguards in place to avoid calculating invalid formulae in Excel and Word documents that resulted in the message,
There are one or more errors present within formulae. Please refer to the formula lines for more details.
  • We've corrected an issue when having mismatching account groupings between the parent and child engagements in a consolidated engagement would cause the consolidation to fail and the yellow banner to remain on the trial balance tab.
  • We've corrected an issue when assigning account classification codes to accounts where the account type and tax codes wouldn’t properly be mapped based on the
    Setup
    ,
    Mappings
    screen.
  • The
    Save
    and
    Cancel
    buttons on the engagement
    Properties
screen will no longer seem sticky where they try to appear even when you are not scrolled down. This fixes some issues where certain screen resolutions or scroll bar locations would cause a flickering behaviour.
  • We've corrected an issue when Guided Assurance documents added manually to the engagement were rolled forward and still showed the placeholder icon after the roll forward.
  • In a Guided Assurance document, when selecting a predetermined link in the description of the procedure the document preview will open properly.
  • Account grouping columns in the spreadsheet import wizard will be treated as text even when the cell contents appear as numbers. This prevents numbered account grouping codes from having formatting like decimal precision added to them.
  • The notes report will reflect the time zone of the currently logged in user in the date and time column.
  • Having 2 signoff types in the
    Setup
    ,
    Signoff types
screen is no longer allowed. The duplicate signoffs caused issues loading the home dashboard.
  • Notification details were displaying incorrect data for the type of rule and the rule ID field on notes rules.
  • We've added preventions to keep the same engagement to be opened twice in the home dashboard and breadcrumb component. When duplicate engagements were open, it could cause the home dashboard not to load and cause errors.
  • We've corrected the date format for United Kingdom users in the
    Manage Users
screen, in the current period field of engagement properties, and in the received date on notification alerts.
  • We've corrected an issue that could cause a blank screen when selecting away to dismiss a drawer panel component.
