Restore an old version of a document in GoFileRoom
You might want to restore an older version of a document if you find an error in the current version, or if the file is corrupted, and your firm doesn’t use versioning in GoFileRoom.
As a GoFileRoom administrator or Records Manager, you can restore documents on your own by following the steps in the Self-service document restoration article. If you run into any issues, use the following steps to gather the necessary information and contact GoFileRoom Support for help.
tip
If your firm uses versioning in GoFileRoom, you don't need to take the following steps, you can just edit an older version of the document.
If the document has been deleted, you can ask your GoFileRoom administrator to restore the document.
In GoFileRoom, select
Search Documents
to find the current version of the document.
In the search results, mark the checkbox for the document you want.
Select document action or right-click the selected document and select
Show Document History
.
Make a note of the 10-digit Document ID.
In the Document History, look for an older version that has
Saved Document
in the Action column, and make a note of its Date and Time Stamp.
important
If a staff member used
Undo Changes
after editing the document, that document can't be restored to that Date and Time Stamp.
Email GoFileRoom Customer Support to ask for the older version of the document to be restored.
note
You email should include the following information about the version of the document you want to restore: Document ID, Date, and Time Stamp.
If the document was previously part of an Engagement Manager engagement, you'll also need to add it back in.
The restored document will have the same indexes as the original, with a new document ID.
