Error 9521 and 9510: group loss relief on CT600C in Corporation Tax

Scenario

You might get the following error messages when you act for a company that wants to claim group relief and you try to file CT600C with Corporation Tax.
Error message
Error 9510: If copies of notices of consent are completed then a PDF attachment of other type must be present
Error 9521: Copies of notices of consent must not be complete.

Causes

  • The likely cause of the 9510 error is that you've not attached a copy of the surrendering company's CT600C to the submission as a PDF. This is a requirement of HMRC's Online Filing validation.
  • The likely cause of the 9521 error is that you've not completed all the fields on CT600C.

Solution to error 9510

  1. Open the surrendering company.
  2. Go to
    Forms
    , then
    CT600C
    .
  3. Right-click on the form and select
    Save form to file
     from the context menu.
  4. Save the PDF.
  5. Back in the claimant company, go to
    Tools
    , then
    Online Filing
    .
  6. Attach the PDF you've just saved as an
    Other attachment
    .

Solution to error 9521

  1. Open the CT600C.
  2. Complete any fields that you've not yet completed.
