Move a return out of the Submitted folder in the Online Filing Manager in Corporation Tax
Generally when a return is submitted to HMRC it should immediately be acknowledged as
Accepted
or
Rejected
and moved to the appropriate folder in
Tools | Manager | Online Filing Manager
. Occasionally this will not be the case, and details of how to deal with such a situation are given below.
A file will remain in the
Submitted
folder if you have not yet received a response from the HMRC (this is generally a result of the HMRC server not sending a response to the software. This tends to happen when the HMRC server is encountering problems) you need to do the following:
Go to
Tools | Manager | Online Filing Manager
.
Highlight the submitted folder and select the icon called
Check All/Check Status of Online Filing Submissions
. You should find this will now move your client into either the accepted or rejected folder.
If the company moves nowhere and remains in submitted, then retry periodically for 2 days.
If after this time you are still unsuccessful,
it is essential that you contact HMRC
to determine whether the return was ever received and if it was
Accepted
or
Rejected
.
Please then follow these steps to move the submission manually:
As an administrator open the
Online Filing Manager
dialog.
If the submission was not instigated by the administrator the status can only be changed if the
Online Filing Manager
dialog is accessed externally via the standalone route, and not if accessed from within Digita Corporation Tax.
Click on the Digita Corporation Tax
Submitted
folder to view the items sent to HMRC. Right-click on an item in the list and select
Change Submission Status | Change status to Accepted
or
Change status to Rejected
from the menu.
Once an option has been selected the
Status Change Explanation
dialog opens. Enter a reason and click
OK
.The submission will move to either the
Accepted
or
Rejected
folder and the reason will appear in the message pane for the item.
HMRC – Service Availability
If you are having problems submitting returns, it is worth checking HMRC’s Service Availability and Known Issues pages to ensure that they are not currently experiencing a problem with their Servers or that they have not taken them offline for routine maintenance.
