Secure file transfer in Outlook

The utility of the Secure File Transfer feature is enhanced with the Outlook plugin.
The Outlook plugin provides several benefits regarding the sharing of attachments via email:
  1. Large attachments, which often are too large to be sent or received by Outlook, and which can severely degrade the performance of (or even crash) Outlook, can be shared via email without regard to size.
  2. Attachments can be secured, to ensure that only recipients with Collaborate accounts can access them.
  3. Restrictions on how attachments are accessed can be applied, such as how long an attachment will be available and whether an attachment can be downloaded or only viewed.
  4. Audit records are maintained to help determine whether, when, and by whom an attachment has been accessed. There is no more guessing whether a recipient has downloaded an attachment.
  5. If necessary, such as if an attachment was added inadvertently, access to any attachment can be revoked at any time from the user's
    My Site
, where the attachments will be saved.
The Outlook plugin achieves these benefits by providing the option to replace attachments with links added to the body of the email, and to impose certain restrictions on accessing those attachments. The attachments themselves are sent to the user's
My Site
in Collaborate.
