Draft standard documents and clauses in Word
Find a standard document or clause, read the drafting notes, and customise it in Microsoft Word.
Use one of the following methods to find a standard document or clause:
On
UK Home
, select the
Resources
tab,
Standard documents and drafting notes
or
Standard clauses and drafting notes
, then a practice area.
On
UK Home
, select a practice area, then
Standard documents and drafting notes
or
Standard clauses and drafting notes
.
Enter a search term, then on the results page, select
Resource Type
and mark the
Standard documents and clauses
checkbox.
Select the title of the standard document or clause to open it.
Review the standard document or clause and drafting notes.
tip
Select a single note to show the drafting note or select
Show Drafting Notes
on the toolbar to show all drafting notes.
Select
Download
from the toolbar, then choose from the
Delivery
,
Include
, and
Advanced
options.
Use the following options to customise the downloaded document or clause in Microsoft Word:
To add a clause before an existing clause: place your cursor at the beginning of a clause, then press
Enter
.
To add a sub-clause after a sub-clause: place your cursor at the end of the sub-clause, then press
Enter
.
To add a 1st sub-clause: place your cursor at the end of the main clause, then press
Enter
. This creates a new main clause. Place your cursor at the start of your new main clause, then press
Tab
to change it to a sub-clause.
To add a further level of sub-clause: place your cursor at the end of the sub-clause, then
Enter
. This creates another sub-clause of the same level. Place your cursor at the start of this new sub-clause, then
Tab
.
To delete a clause: select the text of the clause and
Backspace
or
Delete
.
