Apply Digita Suite updates
For updates to Digita applications, refer to our help topic: Digita Suite releases.
Updates are applied in the same way as the original installation: the installer is run on the standalone machine or the network server where the main Digita installation resides.

Before you apply software updates, make sure you have saved a backup of the Digita databases using the Digita Database Backup tool (or Microsoft SQL Server Management Studio / third-party SQL database backup solution).
Before you begin
:
- Apply any outstanding Windows updates and restart your computer.
- Make sure you are logged in with administrator rights.
- Turn off antivirus software.
important
Make sure that no users are logged into the Digita applications while updating. This can cause the process to fail.
Start the software upgrade
:
- Run the DigitaAutoRun.exe file by right clicking it andRun as administratorto initiate the installation process.noteUpon launch, the process will check the existing software installation and configuration.
- On the Welcome screen, selectInstall/Upgrade Digita Software.noteThe Product Selection screen will show which programs can be updated, which are already up to date, and any that are not currently installed.
- Deselect any programs that you do not wish to be installed, then selectNext.
- Accept the licence agreement, then selectNext.
- The Database Backup screen will prompt you to confirm you have backed up your databases. If you have backed up your databases, select that option, thenNext.
- Once the installation is complete, selectOK, thenNext, and exit the Suite Installer.
- SelectAdditional Softwareon the Welcome screen to update any other software.
- noteOnce the main upgrade process is complete, any client workstations will automatically attempt to apply the update the next time the software is launched.You need to install Accounts Production and Accounts Production Advanced via the Nodein folder. Refer to our help topic: Carry out a node installation to run Digita client software on workstations.If you have enabled Windows User Account Control on the workstation you may get the following warning message.The software needs to be updated, however you do not have sufficient access rights on this machine to install. Please log on with a user name that allows you full access to the hard disk, or contact your system administrator.
- Right-click the desktop shortcut and selectRun as Administratorfrom the context menu.noteThis will provide access rights for the update to proceed. When the software opens, you may be prompted to update the database. Some of the Digita applications will require you to enter your SQL SA password to enable this to proceed. See the instructions in our help topic: Reset your SQL SA password in Digita.The database will then be upgraded to match the new software version. The Digita software upgrade procedure is complete.
