Roles and Privileges
Users in Fringe Benefit Tax are assigned specific roles. Each role is assigned a specific set of privileges. Administrators define the privileges for each role.
- SelectAdministration > Roles and Privilegesfrom the navigation bar.
- In thePrivileges for roledropdown, select the role you want to define.
- Use the+and-controls to open and close the collapsible sections. The values in theAccesscolumn show whether this role has read only, read and write permission, or no access.
In the following example, users with this role:
- Can view and edit cost centres.
- Can view declarations.
- Cannot view or edit employees.

Specialised Roles
Specialised roles can be added and allocated to users. For example, an organisation administrator may prefer a user not to have access to the Loan workpaper as it contains executives’ details and creates a new role of FBT Preparer 2 without access to that workpaper.
- SelectAdministration, thenRoles & Privilegesfrom the navigation bar.
- Select theAddbutton.
- Use the+and-controls to open and close the collapsible sections. The values in theAccesscolumn show whether this role has read only, read and write permission, or no access.
- For each function in each section, select theRead,Read & Write, orNonebuttons.
Reporting Entities
Reporting Entities can be placed into
Groups
and these groups can have their own access set. If a User accesses the ATO return for a reporting entity in a group that they haven't been granted access they will receive an 'Insufficient Reporting Entity access' message. This is because the Reporting Entity belongs to (is child of) a reporting group they don't have access to. A workaround (if required) is to set at least read access for that user for the group. Thereafter, if that user opens the ATO return for a reporting entity in the group structure, they will not get an access warning.Capabilities for Roles

note
If an organisation administrator changes the role or organisation access status of another user and they do not have full access to all the organisations assigned to that other user, they cannot grant access to these organisations. If this attempted, the system will remove the privilege the administrator does not have permission to grant from the other user. | Create or edit the access of users for organisations they do not administer. |
