Learn to use CoCounsel's Summarize skill
Lawyers and legal professionals often need to quickly understand long, complicated material, even before they have specific questions about the content. CoCounsel's Summarize skill reads files word-for-word to provide a summary in three lengths.

- In the newer 2.0 version of CoCounsel, you don't have to select brief, detailed, or comprehensive summary options. Instead, you can just ask for a summary and then use the chat to change the length and/or level of detail.
- In version 2.0 you can also now ask CoCounsel to focus on a specific topic.
You may access the Summarize skill in various ways.
In this situation, we will begin by uploading files.
- Add files to the chat. CoCounsel will add files to the chat and ask how to proceed.
- Tell CoCounsel you want a summary and then select send. CoCounsel will confirm its work.noteFor example:I need a summary.
- In the upper right corner of CoCounsel's response, theSummarizeskill is confirmed.
- UnderSelect your summary length, selectBrief,Detailed, orComprehensive.
- If you no longer need assistance, selectCancel.
- When you are ready to proceed, selectSubmit request. CoCounsel will begin its work and show its progress
- To receive a notification when the results are ready, selectEmail me when complete.
- To stop CoCounsel's work, selectCancel.
- When your results are ready, selectView results. The results window will appear.
- Review the results.
- To read summaries, collapse and expand each file.
- To view the original document, selectView pages. The side viewing panel will appear. Use search and navigation options to navigate the viewing panel.
- To close the viewing panel, go to the top right and selectClose panel.
- To copy the results to paste somewhere else, selectCopy. To download the results as a Word Document, select the ellipsis icon, then selectDownload, and thenWord Document. The results will download.
Limitations
Summarize cannot focus on certain information.
