Scanning documents
FileCabinet CS requires a TWAIN or WIA driver to allow scanning documents. Before attempting to scan into FileCabinet CS verify that your scanner has a TWAIN compliant scanner and that it is installed on the workstation you are attempting to scan at.
Modifying scanning options
- ChooseImage>Scan.
- Select the Options button.
- TheReduce Image Size on Diskcheckbox will save disk space by saving the scanned image at a smaller size.
- To optimize for black and white documents, click theBlack and White Pagesoption.
- To optimize for color documents, click theColor Pagesoption.
- Certain scanner drivers invert colors when you scan pages into FileCabinet CS, showing white text on black background. Mark theInvert colorscheckbox to invert colors and reverse this effect.
- Select OK
Scanning documents
- Place the page to be scanned on the scanner.
- Choose Image > Scan.
- To select a scanner other than the default scanner, choose an image device type from the drop-down list and then click the Select button to select a particular scanner.noteIf you are using DT FileCabinet in a DT Virtual Office environment, you must use a TWAIN-compliant scanner.
- From theDrawer IDdrop-down list, choose the drawer in which you will store the scanned pages.noteTo store scanned pages in more than one drawer, choose<< Select multiple drawers >>from theDrawer IDdrop-down list to open a dialog in which you can select multiple drawers.
- To add the scanned pages to an image group in the selected drawers, enter the image group name in theImage Groupfield, or choose an image group from the drop-down list. To create a new image group, enter a name for the new image group in this field.
- To add a description to the scanned pages, choose one of the following items from theapplied tofield in the Keywords for searching and annotation section.
- Keywords for searching:Choose this item to include the description when performing searches.
- Keywords and all pages text annotation:Choose this item to include the description in searches and to add the description as a text annotation on all pages of a multiple-page scanned image.
- Keywords and first page text annotation:Choose this item to include the description in searches and to add the description as a text annotation only on the first page of a multiple-page scanned image.noteWhen you enter text in the Keywords for searching and annotation pane, DT FileCabinet selectsKeywords for searchingin theapplied tofield.
- Select the Scan button to begin scanning. To scan another page or a group of pages, click the Another button.As DT FileCabinet receives the scanned image, the Scan Page dialog expands to show the Image preview section, where you can preview, delete, and rename images.
