Printing labels and letters

In the
Print Labels & Letters
screen, you can:
  • create labels for mailing client invoices and statements
  • print a full sheet of the same label
  • print letters for clients or other contacts
  • save sets of labels and letters for later use by creating a profile

Printing labels

Follow these steps to print labels from DT Practice.
  1. Choose
    File
    >
    Print Labels & Letters
    to open the
    Print Labels & Letters
    screen.
  2. Highlight the label size you want to print and select the
    Select
    button. Available label sizes include:
    Address
    • 5161 - 1" x 4"
    • 5260 - 1" x 2.63"
    • 5261 - 1" x 4"
    • 8160 - 1" x 2.63"
    • 8161 - 1" x 4"
    File Folder
    • 8166 - 0.54" x 3.44"
  3. If necessary, use the Selection tab to narrow the list of labels to be printed.
  4. If necessary, go to the Layout tab to set additional options.
    • Use the
      Group by
      field to select a criterion for grouping labels. (For labels, you can only sort a grouping by ID or Sort Name, ascending or descending.)
    • Use the
      Detail by
      fields to select detail options. (For labels, you can only specify whether to sort labels by client ID or Sort Name, ascending or descending.)
    • To print an entire page of each label, mark the
      Full page of the same label
      checkbox.
  5. Use the
    Preview Selected
    button to view the labels as they will print.
  6. Use the
    Back
    button in the toolbar to return to the
    Print Labels & Letters
    screen.
  7. When you are ready to print your labels, select the
    Print Selected
    button.
  8. In the
    Print
    dialog, choose one or more outputs (printer, file, email message), verify the destination (printer, file type/folder, email recipients), and select
    OK
    .

Printing letters

In addition to labels, you can print custom letters from DT Practice. Available letters are listed on the
Print Labels & Letters
screen, and include any custom letters you have created and saved using the
Custom Formats
screen. To print letters, follow these steps.
  1. Choose
    File
    >
    Print Labels & Letters
    to open the
    Print Labels & Letters
    screen.
  2. Highlight the letter you want to print and select the
    Select
    button.
  3. Use the Selection tab to choose a date for the letters. Options are Today’s Date, Period End Date, Prior Period End Date, and Custom. If you choose Custom, you must also specify a date.
  4. If necessary, use the
    Filtering
    fields to narrow the list of clients for whom letters will be printed.
  5. If necessary, go to the Layout tab to set additional options.
    • Use the
      Group by
      field to select a criterion for grouping letters. (For letters, you can only sort a grouping by ID or Sort Name, ascending or descending.)
    • Use the
      Detail by
      fields to select detail options (for letters, you can only specify whether to sort letters by client ID or Sort Name, ascending or descending).
  6. Use the
    Preview Selected
    button to view the letters as they will print.
  7. Use the
    Back
    button in the toolbar to return to the
    Print Labels & Letters
    screen.
  8. When you are ready to print your letters, select the
    Print Selected
    button.
  9. In the
    Print
    dialog, choose one or more outputs (printer, file, email message), verify the destination (printer, file type/folder, email recipients), and select
    OK
