Transfer your data to a new account

If you leave one firm and move to another, you can transfer your data between Westlaw
Edge
Canada accounts.
  1. Sign in to the account that has the data to transfer.
  2. In the footer of any page, select
    Transfer my Data
    .
  3. Select
    Register to Transfer
    .
  4. Enter your mobile phone number and select
    Save and Send Verification Code
    .
    note
    We recommend that you use your personal phone number because you'll need this same device throughout the transfer process.
  5. Enter the code sent to your phone and then select
    Verify
    .
  6. Enter your email address and then select
    Send
    .
    note
    We recommend that you use a personal email address because you'll need access to the same email account throughout the transfer process.
  7. Copy the Transfer Key and store it in a place where you'll have access to it for the next 180 days. After 180 days, the key is no longer valid.

    Transfer Keys are issued one time, and Thomson Reuters cannot retrieve or restore transfer keys.
  8. Sign out of Westlaw
    Edge
    Canada.
  9. In the email you received with the Transfer Key information, select
    Transfer My Data Now
    .
    tip
    If you don't have the email, you can enter your Transfer Key manually using the Transfer My Data link in the footer of any page.
  10. Sign in with the account you want to restore your data to.
  11. On the Transfer My Data screen, select
    Complete Transfer
    .
You'll receive an email notification when the data transfer is complete. It could take up to 24 hours to complete, depending on the amount of data.
