Reports don't show partner or officer's names when the name has an apostrophe

Scenario

If a partner or officer's name includes an apostrophe, you may find that the application doesn't show their name on the report.

Solution A — entity is not integrated with Practice Management

  1. Select the
    Summary
    tab.
  2. Select
    Members / Partners / Directors
    .
  3. Select the person with the apostrophe, then
    Edit
    .
  4. Edit the
    Surname
    by removing the apostrophe.
  5. Open Microsoft Word, create a new document, then enter 2 apostrophes, which will appear as this: ‘’.
  6. Paste the 2nd of the 2 apostrophes (’) into the person's
    Surname
    field.
  7. Select
    OK
    and
    OK
    again to save and close the windows.
  8. View the report again to check that it shows the person’s name and details correctly.

Solution B — entity is integrated with Practice Management

  1. Open Practice Management.
  2. Select the
    Contacts
    tab.
  3. Enter the person's name in the filter box to find their record.
  4. Double-click their record to open it.
  5. On the
    General
    tab, remove the apostrophe from the name in the
    Full name
    box.
  6. Open Microsoft Word, create a new document, then enter 2 apostrophes, which will appear as this: ‘’.
  7. Paste the 2nd of the 2 apostrophes into the
    Full name
    in Practice Management.
  8. Open the client record in Practice Management.
  9. Select
    Save and close
    to save the change.
  10. Open the client in Accounts Production Advanced and check the report shows the name correctly.
