Error: Authorisation Failure when filing accounts to Companies House
Scenario
You may get the following error message when you file accounts to Companies House.

Error number 502: Authorisation Failure.
Solution
- In DCS 24.1, we updated validation rules on the Presenter ID field to support the newer format of IDs starting withE.
- A small number of customers have reported issues with newly issued Companies House Authentication Codes.
We implemented a minor Company Secretarial update to accept both upper- and lowercase letters in authentication codes. Some customers may see error 502: authorisation failure.
To resolve this, take the following actions;
- Sign in to theCompany Secretarialas an administrator, or user with administrative rights.
- Navigate toToolsthenManage Presenter Details.
- Select theCompanies Housetab and select the 3 dots next toElectronic filing: Enabled
- Replace all lower-case characters on the Presenter Authentication Code with upper-case characters.
- SelectOKand you'll get confirmation that the electronic filing details appear to be valid.
- You can then file your forms and accounts successfully to Companies House.
