Error: Authorisation Failure when filing accounts to Companies House
Scenario
You may get the following error message when you file accounts to Companies House.
Error message
Error number 502: Authorisation Failure.
Solution
In DCS 24.1, we updated validation rules on the Presenter ID field to support the newer format of IDs starting with
E
.
A small number of customers have reported issues with newly issued Companies House Authentication Codes.
We implemented a minor Company Secretarial update to accept both upper- and lowercase letters in authentication codes. Some customers may see error 502: authorisation failure.
To resolve this, take the following actions;
Sign in to the
Company Secretarial
as an administrator, or user with administrative rights.
Navigate to
Tools
then
Manage Presenter Details
.
Select the
Companies House
tab and select the 3 dots next to
Electronic filing: Enabled
Replace all lower-case characters on the Presenter Authentication Code with upper-case characters.
Select
OK
and you'll get confirmation that the electronic filing details appear to be valid.
You can then file your forms and accounts successfully to Companies House.
