Enter super-deduction in Corporation Tax Advanced

  1. important
The following workaround comprises two sets of different steps to enter a super-deduction for the general pool and the special rate pool. The temporary guidance from HMRC about which boxes to use before the CT600 is updated is given at the end of this topic.
Take the following steps to claim super-deduction for the
    general pool
    .
  2. Right-click
    C-Fixed Assets
    schedule tab and select
    Develop
    , then
    Allowances – Plant pool
    from the context menu.
    note
    If
    Allowances – Plant pool
is inactive in the context menu, it will already have been created, usually as one of the B sheets.
  3. On the
    C-Fixed Assets
schedule tab, enter the amount in the
    Plant pool –  FYA
    row.
  4. On the
    Plant Pool
schedule (a B sheet), enter the amount in the
    On super-deduction expenditure at 130%
    row (at around row 70).
  5. Right-click the amount you've entered, then select
    Develop
    and
    Super-deduction expenditure
    from the context menu.
    This creates the
    Super-deduction expenditure
schedule (a B sheet) where you can enter the addition directly.
  6. Enter the addition amount.
    note
    Corporation Tax Advanced
will apply the super-deduction in the
    Plant Pool
    schedule (a B sheet).
  7. Take the following steps to claim super-deduction for the
    special rate pool
    .
  8. Right-click the
    C-Fixed assets
    tab and select
    Develop
    , then
    Special rate assets
    .
  9. On the
    C-Fixed assets
tab, enter the addition amount in the
    Special rate assets –  FYA
    row.
  10. On the
    Special rate asset pool
schedule (a B sheet), enter the addition amount in the
On SR allowance expenditure at 50%
    row.
  11. Right-click on the amount you've just entered and select
    Develop
    , then
    SR allowance expenditure
    from the context menu.
    This will create the
    SR allowance expenditure
schedule (a B sheet) where you can enter the addition.
  12. Enter the addition amount.
note
On 8 November 2021, we reported that HMRC published the following temporary guidance on their Corporation Tax Service:
If you do need to submit a super-deduction and/or 50% first-year allowance (SR allowance) claim or report a balancing charge online before April 2022, it is possible to do this utilising existing capital allowances boxes. For CT600, boxes 725 and 750 can be used for claim amounts, boxes 730 and 755 can be used to report balancing charges and box 775 can be used for qualifying expenditure until the online service has been updated and new boxes are available
This workaround populates boxes 705 (allowances) and 760 (Machinery and plant on which FYA is claimed). If you need to follow the HMRC guidance, you'll need to take the following steps.
  1. Press
    Shift + F10
and enter the daily system password.
  2. Select
    Edit System Formula
    and re-enter the password.
  3. Select box
    725
and overwrite the formula with the amount that should be in this box (or remove the formula if the box should be empty).
  4. Select box
    705
and overtype this to remove the amount relating to the super-deduction, by either entering the amount of normal capital allowances or removing the formula if there are no other capital allowances.
  5. Repeat these steps for boxes
    760
    and
    775
, by either removing the formula or entering the relevant amount of expenditure.
