CT600A errors 9466 and 9469: Loans to participators rounding problems in Corporation Tax
Scenario
You may get the following error message in Corporation Tax when filing a CT600A that includes details of a loan to a participator.
Error message
9466: If the loans to participator rate does not change in the accounting period of the return then Box A20 must equal Box A15 multiplied by the loans to participator rate for that period. Round down for fractions less than half a penny and round up for fractions of half a penny or greater.
9469: If the loans to participator rate does not change in the accounting period of the return then Box A45 must equal Box A40 multiplied by the loans to participator rate for that period. Round down for fractions less than half a penny and round up for fractions of half a penny or greater.
Cause
The likely cause of these errors is a loan amount that's an odd number, which can lead to Digita and HMRC validation errors.

If you've manually changed the CT600A form, instead of using the Loan to Participants schedule, you'll need to undo these changes first.
- Open the client in Corporation Tax.
- Select theAccounting Periodin which you've entered the loan to a participator.
- SelectAccounts, thenLoan to Participators.
- In theLoan to Participatorsschedule, select the loan, thenEdit.
- Change theAmountof the loan by 1 to make it an even number.
- SelectOK.
- Go to the nextAccounting Periodin which you've entered the the repayment.
- Repeat steps 3 and 4.
- Change theAmountof the repayment to match the loan amount you've changed to an even number.
- SelectOK.
- If there's more than one loan, repeat this process for each one.noteYou might want to increase the amount for one loan and reduce it for another.
- SelectValidation errorsto check if you’ve cleared the errors.
