Error: CT600 Account Name has invalid value in Corporation Tax

Scenario

You get the following error message when you try to use Corporation Tax to submit a CT600.
Error message
Account Name element has an invalid value according to its data type.

Causes

When you try to use Corporation Tax to submit a CT600 you get the error message
'Account Name element has an invalid value according to its data type'
. The likely cause of this error is that name of the account for the refund shown in box 935 of CT600 has more than the 28 characters allowed by HMRC.

Solution

  1. Open the client in Corporation Tax.
  2. Select
    Company
    , then
    Company Details
    .
  3. Select the
    Refunds
     tab.
  4. Reduce the number of characters in the
    Name
     field to 28 or under.
  5. Select
    OK
    .
