Creating embedded objects from Microsoft Office applications

Follow these steps to create an embedded object from Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook. When you store a file as an embedded object in Digita FileCabinet, you can edit the file in the original application, or from within Digita FileCabinet using many of the features of the object's source application.
  1. From within Word, Excel, PowerPoint, or Outlook, click the Embed button in the Microsoft Office Digita FileCabinet toolbar. The Digita FileCabinet installation process adds Digita FileCabinet toolbars to Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint. The buttons in these toolbars allow you to quickly print or embed documents to Digita FileCabinet. The Digita FileCabinet toolbar is supported in Microsoft Office 2003, Office 2007, Office 2010, and Office 2016.
    note
    If you are using Microsoft Office 2007 or higher, the Digita FileCabinet toolbar is available in the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon.
  2. Select OK if Digita FileCabinet notifies you that the current document will be saved, closed, and reopened after it is embedded.
  3. If your firm uses multiple data locations, select the desired Digita FileCabinet data location from the
    Digita FileCabinet
     field.
  4. Indicate the ID of the drawer in which you will store the document, enter the name of the document as you want it to appear in Digita FileCabinet, and choose the folder in which you will store the document.
  5. Select the Embed button.
