Error: The file is not supported by a document object server error

Scenario

You may see this error when you attempt to embed an object type that the application does not support.
You can embed any file into Digita FileCabinet that originated in an application that supports Active Document Interface, such as Microsoft Word or Excel. You can also embed PDF files and images.
Error message
The file is not supported by a Document Object server.

Solutions

  • For a Microsoft Excel file Your Excel file is likely corrupted. Use the following steps to resolve the error:
    • Save the document under a different name, and then try to embed the file again.
    • If you still get the error, open the Excel document and right-click the worksheet tab. Choose Move or Copy and paste the worksheet in a new Excel file, and then save the file. Try to embed the new file.
  • For an image file
    Choose Image > Copy from File and select the image file to embed.

    Digita FileCabinet supports image files with the following filename extensions: BMP, ICO, JFIF, JPEG, JPG, PBM, PCD, PCX, PGM, PNG, PPM, RAS, TARGA, TGA, TIF, and TIFF.
  • For other file types, run the Digita FileCabinet desktop setup.
