Error: Server threw an exception error in embedded Excel documents

Scenario

You may see this error when you attempt to open an embedded Excel file from within Digita FileCabinet.
Error message
Server threw an exception

Cause

This error is caused by file corruption, a special code (such as macros or checkmarks), or PPC tickmarks in a Microsoft Excel file.

Solution

  1. Choose Setup > User Preferences > Misc and clear the
    Open embedded Microsoft Office documents in a separate window
     checkbox.
  2. If this does not resolve the issue, copy the contents of the Excel file into a new Excel file, and then embed the new file.
