You will get a list all of your clients that match the type you selected. The word
(Business)
is shown after the client code of clients that use a business tax licence. This means the client has had a business in any tax year during which you've acted for them.
Where a business tax item is set up, it will usually count as 1 Business Tax licence, regardless of how many years it has been running for. However, Person clients could have more than one business linked to them.
Businesses cannot be marked as 'inactive' for the purpose of removing them from your license count.
Stop old Business Tax Business clients from using your licences
If you have any old records for a Business Tax Sole Trade that you no longer need, you can convert them back to a Sole Trade Instance to free up licences. Follow the steps in either of the following help topics, depending on whether Integration is used:
Convert a Business Tax Sole Trade to a Sole Trade Instance when Integrated in Personal Tax.
Convert a Business Tax Sole Trade to a Sole Trade Instance when not Integrated in Personal Tax.
Remove the business from a Partnership to stop it using a licence
Go to the Information Explorer.
Right-click on the folder
Business: Name of business
and select
Delete
from the context menu.
This will delete just the business part. It will leave the static details for the partnership intact. Personal, Business and Trust Tax will ask you to save the figures posted to the individual partners' returns.
