Deleting items associated with historical data

If you try to delete a client, staff, or activity that has historical data associated with it, you will receive a message that the item cannot be deleted. If you still want to proceed with deleting the client, staff, or activity, you first need to find and delete all of the historical data associated with it wherever it has been entered in [[product_name]].
Clients with historical data can be merged into a single generic client, which retains historical financial data but removes other client data from the database.
Example
As an example, if you wanted to delete staff member Steve Carter (staff ID SLC) from the Sample database, you would first have to find and delete all of the following:
  • Staff and client groupings
  • Referrals
  • Engagements for which SLC is the Manager
  • Time and expense entries
  • Projects and tasks for which SLC is the responsible or assigned staff member
  • Interactions
  • Invoices billed by SLC
To locate all of these items more easily, click the View Details button in the message to see a list of everything associated with the item that is preventing you from deleting it. You can right-click the list and choose Expand All from the context menu to see all historical items at once. You can also choose Print Grid from the context menu to print a list of all screens from which you must delete historical data before you can delete the client, staff, or activity.
