Due to a bug, which we are working to resolve, some versions will not function properly unless you already have version 1.5 installed and have then updated it to the version you require. Also, remember that compressed files in zip folders must be extracted before they can be used to install and update

compatible with
SQL Server 2008R2
to SQL Server 2014
Digita Database Backup
version 1.5 is
not
compatible with
SQL Server 2016
and newer versions.
Fails to complete a backup and displays the ‘Could not backup database’ error message
If you are currently using version 1.5 of
Digita Database Backup
, take the following steps to update it to version 1.6:
Save the zip folder to a convenient location, extract the compressed files, double-click on
setup.exe
, and follow the update instructions.
Ensure that there is sufficient space available on the drive where you are storing
Digita
database backups and archives.

Database backups are saved to the
Microsoft SQL Backup
folder, which by default is the
C:/
drive, but this location may be different in non-standard setups. If
Archive
is selected, archived SQL backups will be stored in the specified location.
A password entry box displays on launch
This an be caused by the
Windows
user not having administration permissions setup in
SQL Server
. Take the following steps to add administration permissions:
Open
SQL Server Management Studio
.
Login as the
SA
user.
Select
Security
then
Logins
to expand these sections.
Create a new login account for the
Windows
user with the password entry problem.
Select the
Server Roles
page.
Select the
sysadmin
check box.
Appears to freeze during use on a Windows PC
Digita Database Backup
may appear to freeze because a
Backup Scheduling
dialog box is hidden behind the main screen. Taking the following steps will resolve this problem.
Launch
Digita Database Backup
.
When it appears to freeze, right-click anywhere on the
Notification
bar
at the bottom of your
Windows
Desktop (or press and hold
Ctrl
+
Alt
+
Delete
) and select
Task Manager
from the pop-up menu.
Find
Digita Database Backup
in the list of
Apps
(you may need to select the
More details
arrow to see the full list):
Select the arrow to the left of
Digita Database Backup
to expand the list of processes
Right-click on the
Backup Scheduling
process
Select
Switch to
from the pop-up menu
Immediately after selecting
Switch to
, press
Alt
+
Spacebar
.
Select
Move
from the pop-up
Window
menu
, then immediately use your keyboard arrow keys or mouse to move the hidden window into view.
Press the
Enter
key to fix the window into view. (In order to prevent the issue reoccurring, select the
Don't show this message again
check box).
Select the
OK
button to return to the
Digita Database Backup
main screen.
