Independent Dashboard Management

As of the September 2026 release, HighQ supports two independent dashboard types:
Dashboard (Legacy)
, formerly known as a Home Page, and
Dashboard
, formerly known as a Custom Page. You can now enable, create, and manage each dashboard type independently, providing greater flexibility in selecting the dashboard experience for your site.

How dashboard decoupling works

Previously,
Dashboard (Legacy)
and
Dashboard
were enabled as a bundled capability. Enabling one dashboard type automatically enabled the other. As of September 2026 release, you can:
  • Enable or disable each dashboard type separately.
  • Create either dashboard type without affecting the other.
  • Set either dashboard type as the site landing page.
  • Continue using existing Dashboard (Legacy) while adopting Dashboards.

Existing dashboards and navigation

Existing dashboards are not affected by this change. Dashboard (Legacy) continue to operate as before and can still be edited, viewed, and configured as site landing pages.
The site top navigation continues to display
Home
as the user-facing module name. Site Admin screens and configuration dialogs use the unified Dashboard terminology.

Create a dashboard

  1. Go to
    Site Admin
    .
  2. Under
    Module settings
    , select
    Dashboards
    .
  3. Select
    Add
    .
  4. In the
    Add Dashboard Page
dialog, enter a name and any other required details.
  5. Under
    Dashboard Type
, select one of the following options:
    • Dashboard
      : Creates a Custom Page.
    • Dashboard (Legacy)
: Creates a traditional Home Page.
  6. Select
    Add
    .
note
When a new site is created, HighQ automatically creates a Dashboard and sets it as the default landing page if the Custom Page service is available. If the service is unavailable, HighQ creates a Dashboard (Legacy).

Dashboard types and capabilities

Dashboard (Legacy)
Dashboard (Legacy)
is the traditional Home Page previously available in HighQ. These dashboards:
  • Can be reordered using the
    Re-order Dashboard (Legacy)
    option.
  • Support all existing Home Page functionality.
  • Can be set as the site landing page.
  • Appear in site navigation.
  • Are subject to the existing Home Page limit configuration.
Dashboard
Dashboard
is a Custom Page that provides an enhanced dashboard experience. These dashboards:
  • Support theme management through Manage Themes.
  • Can be set as the site landing page.
  • Appear in site navigation.
  • Support search functionality in dashboard grids.
  • Are subject to the existing Custom Page limit configuration.
note
Dashboards do not currently support reordering. Because Dashboard and Dashboard (Legacy) are managed by separate systems, ordering across dashboard types is not supported.

Dashboard limits

Dashboard limits remain separate for each dashboard type. Each site maintains:
  • A maximum number of Dashboards (Legacy) per site.
  • A maximum number of Dashboards per site.
These limits are configured independently and are not combined. This preserves any customised limit values already set for each dashboard type.

Identify dashboard types

In
Site Admin
, the dashboard listing identifies each dashboard by type:
  • Dashboard (Legacy)
    : A traditional Home Page.
  • Dashboard
    : A Custom Page.
This distinction helps you identify the dashboard type when selecting landing pages, managing navigation, or performing other administrative tasks.

Display Dashboard Titles (Legacy)

The
Display Dashboard titles (Legacy)
option controls whether
Dashboard (Legacy)
titles are visible to users. Clear the option to hide the titles. The option is enabled by default for newly created sites.
This setting affects only the visibility of the dashboard title and does not affect dashboard functionality.
