Modernised Site Navigation
The Modernised site navigation bar provides a streamlined, left-aligned vertical navigation experience to improve usability, accessibility, and customisation across HighQ sites. It replaces the traditional horizontal navigation with a modern interface, enabling users to access sites, modules, and frequently used utilities more efficiently while maximising available screen space for content.
The design supports both site-only navigation and combined global and site navigation configurations, while allowing administrators to enable or disable the feature through a system-level setting.
Enabling the Modernised Navigation Bar
To enable the Modernised Navigation Bar, navigate to
System admin
> System settings
, and toggle Enable Modernized Navigation
to ON
.
note
Enabling this feature changes the navigation experience across the entire HighQ instance for both internal and external users across all sites.
Navigation Layout
Once enabled, navigation items are reorganised as follows:
- System-level navigation bar (top): Standard system-level items remain in their current positions, while all customised modules are grouped under theMore+option.
- Site-level navigation bar (left sidebar): Moves from the top to a vertical layout on the left side of the screen, giving quick access toFavourites,Recent, andNotifications/Tasks.

This vertical sidebar prioritises frequently used options, helping users quickly access important information and frequently visited content, without repeating the full navigation restructure.
The navigation panel can be expanded or collapsed using the navigation toggle
icon. When collapsed, only menu icons are displayed, providing more screen space for page content.
