Workpaper tree in the new layout

Based on the feedback of the new layout, the entire tree of clients is being added to the breadcrumb area in the engagement workspace. This will let you switch between engagements of different clients more quickly.
This new implementation is combined with some performance improvements which will speed up the loading of the different areas of the engagement. This breadcrumb will load much faster than the home dashboard.
The new engagement tree in the breadcrumb has Add engagement and Open engagement buttons at the bottom of the menu.
If you are in an engagement that is a child of a parent consolidation, there is a new Go to parent button that opens the parent engagement in a new browser tab to make it more efficient to switch between engagements in a consolidation.
In the user preferences area, a new preference has been added to let you sort the engagements within a client by the engagement period end date. This will help sort the engagements in a meaningful way without forcing you to include period dates in the engagement name. This can make the engagement name a more usable field for inserting into Microsoft Office documents.

Grouping by client name or number by default in the engagement dashboard

Much of the feedback on the new layout and working with the engagement dashboard included the fact that the dashboard didn’t group engagements in a tree structure by client. All existing users and new users will now see the engagement dashboard grouped by client by default. You can change or delete this setting by using the Grouping button in the engagement dashboard to show the grouping panel. Then, you can drag column headers into the grouping panel to change the sort or remove the existing sort by selecting the X if you see a column is already in the drop area.
Expand All and Collapse All buttons are also added to the dashboard. Expand All will expand all the groups to get down to the lowest level listing every engagement. The Collapse All button collapses to the highest-level grouping to find a group more quickly.
Grouping in this dashboard by period dates, completion dates, report release dates, or engagement types can be a powerful tool to help you find the most relevant engagements to you.

Reduced the brightness of the new layout components

The left navigation bar, breadcrumb area, and engagement dashboard now have a light gray background to reduce the amount of bright white on the screen. In the future, you will notice more color being introduced into the layout as we continue to roll out design updates to various screens in the application.

Client Communications release in the United Kingdom

The client communications module is now available for United Kingdom customers. This provides a secure and organized way to get documents from a client and add them to the workpapers tree of the engagement. It also provides comments to let you have a discussion with your clients about the nature of the expected documents.

Issues resolved

  • Integration with GoSystem Tax now sends over the proper prior year balance instead of sending the balance from 2 years ago for the prior year.
  • When an Engagement template linked to Checkpoint Engage is rolled forward, the engagement name is properly updated in the Checkpoint Engage user interface.
  • Improvements were made to stability in keeping a Checkpoint Engage session active while logged into AdvanceFlow to prevent some 500 errors from happening when trying to open Checkpoint Engage documents.
  • The Checkpoint Engage progress on the status tab of the engagement has been updated to show proper percent column values for ADM risks and some of the ADM risks have been updated for the ASB title.
  • The drop areas have been updated for dragging and dropping workpapers in the workpapers tree to better reflect the smaller row height. The result will be a more accurate look and feel to the drag and drop capability when moving or adding workpapers.
  • The individual cells in the distribution grid on a journal entry are now properly highlighted as each cell is focused for data entry.
  • We've added additional tax codes for GoSystemTax 1120-S and 1065 entities.
