Error: Field TINTypeValue is unexpected

This validation error occurs when e-filing a Kentucky 1065 return with Form PTEWH. The error indicates the TINTypeValue element is unexpected in the RecipientFEIN section.

Solution

This error occurs when the Automatic Reformat - Partner Name field is populated for a partner using an EIN instead of an SSN.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    Partner Information
    Partner by Partner Data
    Partner Name
    Partner Information
    Reformat Partner Name for State Purpose
    Automatic Reformat - Partner Name
    . This field should only be populated if the partner is using an SSN. If the partner is using an EIN, remove the name.
  2. Perform a full recompute.
  3. Go to
    Organizer
    States
    State E-file
    Enable
    Create Returns
    , then recreate the Kentucky e-file.
