Field restrictions for searches

Add field restrictions to your search if you're looking for something very specific or your search is giving too many results.
  • TI() — find documents with a title that includes these terms. For example, TI(prospectus).
  • AU() — find documents by an Author (a Practical Law team or external contributor). For example, AU(pensions) will show documents by Practical Law's Pensions team.
  • CI() — find a document when you know the document ID. For example, CI(1-422-4500).
  • SY() — find documents that contain the search terms in the synopsis or introduction. For example, SY("compulsory purchase").
  • ATLEASTn() — find documents that contain the search terms at least n times.
