Segment multiple accounts

Use this procedure to segment multiple accounts in the application.
  1. From the
    Chart of Accounts
    or
    Enter Trial Balance
    screen, select
    Edit
    , then
    Edit Multiple Accounts
    .
  2. In the
    Edit Multiple Accounts
    window, select
    Segmentize accounts
    from the
    Information to edit
    field.
  3. Select
    Enter
    to open the
    Segmentize Accounts
    window.
  4. Select the ellipsis next to the
    Segment codes
    field to open the
    Select Segment Codes
    window.
  5. Mark the checkboxes for the segments you want to apply to core accounts.
  6. Select
    Enter
    to return to the
    Segmentize Accounts
    window.
  7. Select
    Apply
to display and review a list of segmented account variants in the Account grid prior to saving your changes.
  8. If necessary, mark the checkbox in the
    Skip
column for the segmented variants you don't want to create.
  9. Select
    Enter
to create the new accounts in the account grid.
  10. Change the filter at the top of the window and segment another batch of accounts, or select
    Done
    .
note
  • Only currently displayed accounts update when you select
    Enter
. This is also true when you apply a filter.
  • The application creates new segmented accounts only; it doesn’t modify or renumber existing accounts during this process.
    • Example:
      A core account (GL
      101
      ) and 2 segments (
      A-101
      and
      B-101
) exist prior to the creation of segmented account variants in the
      Segmentize
screen. Because segmented account variants can be created from core accounts only, GL
      101
is the only account that appears in the Accounts grid.
To create the following segmented account variants— 1-A-101, 2-A-101, 1-B-101, 2-B-101—you'll need to mark all location and department segment checkboxes in the
      Select Segment Codes
      screen.
      Account mask configuration
      Existing 101 accounts (pre-segmentation)
      Location segments
      Department segments
      101 accounts (post-segmentation)
      X-B-XXX (location-dept-core)
      101, A-101, B-101
      Loc-1 / Loc-2
      Dept-1 / Dept-2
      101, A-101, B-101, 1-A-101, 2-A-101, 1-B-101, 2-B-101
  • Balances and transactions in the core account remain in the core account after you segment it. Merge accounts to move account balances to a new segment.
