Version 2023.4.0 release notes

We released version 2023.4.0 on December 19, 2023 with the following changes.

General

  • To help our Support team better assist you, we added a
    Configuration Information
    screen. Select
    Help
, and then hold the Shift key when you select
    About
    . Then, select the
    Configuration Information
    button.
  • We updated the Accounting CS Library portlet (available in the Home, Firm, Staff, and Client dashboards). When you download a ZIP file, you'll need to manually unzip it to add the contents to Report Designer. We plan to automate this process better in a future release.

Accounting

  • We updated the tax codes in the Chart of Accounts and Enter Trial Balance screens for integration with the 2023 version of UltraTax CS and GoSystem Tax RS.
  • We updated the Tax Code Listing PDF for the 2023 tax year.

Report Designer

We added new options to the
Period
field in the Cell, Row, or Column properties for accounting reports, workpaper reports, and financial statements. The new options are
1PCustom
through
9PCustom
, and will calculate balances according to the prior years of the date selections you make at the time you print the report (including the
Single
and
Range
date options, which are based on transaction dates instead of posting period dates). (Idea Incubator #5207)

Payroll Compliance

  • In the Clients screen, we added a 1099 Forms tab, and moved the Federal 1099 form information from the Payroll Taxes tab to the new tab. For each 1099 form type, you can change the
    Filing Method
    ,
    Do Not File
    , and
    Threshold Amount
    options.
  • We temporarily removed the
    Federal 1099
    option from the
    Edit Multiple Clients
    wizard.
  • We added the ability to electronically file Forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC via IRIS (Information Return Intake System).
    note
The charge to electronically file Federal 1099 forms sent via CS Connect is $13 per client per form type. If you have the 940/941 unlimited e-filing license, you'll be able to test and file forms 1099-MISC and 1099-NEC through March 2024 at no additional cost.
  • We discontinued support for printing 2-D barcodes on all copies of Form W-2 and W-3. The
Exclude 2-D barcodes on Forms W-2/W-3
option is now unavailable in the
    Print Options
window in the Process Payroll Tax Forms and Process Client Forms screens.
  • In the Edit Payroll Tax Forms screen, when you select
    1099
    in the
    Form type
    field, we made the
    Additional Information
    button temporarily unavailable.
