Knowledge Search

The
Knowledge Search
tool allows you to connect to various content sources for a unified search experience. Once connected, easily search across these sources to quickly find the information you need. You can add more content sources as needed.
Using the Knowledge Search tool, users can:
  • Research across different content sources including their firm’s DMS and Thomson Reuters content.
  • Refine their search results by filtering and highlighting key terms.
  • Get a detailed view of the results which includes AI insights like summaries and keywords.
  • Open documents directly in Word with CoCounsel Drafting enabled for a quick start.
  • Upload documents in CoCounsel Chat to apply AI skills and ask questions.
  1. Sign into CoCounsel.
  2. Select
    Admin settings
    Integrations
    Knowledge Search
  3. As a first-time user, you'll see the intro screen requesting you to start the connection process for your content sources. Select
    Connect content sources
    to get started.
  4. You'll see all your available content sources previously configured by your administrator. Connect all the content sources you want to have available to perform your searches. Some content sources will show a separate window to request your credentials.
  5. Select
    Back to home
    once you have connected to at least one content source.
  6. Once redirected to the Home page, specify up to 5 content sources for your search.
  7. Perform searches using natural language queries, keywords, or Boolean operators. Use the search tool tips as guidance.
    note
    Natural language examples:
    • I need to find a distribution agreement precedent from the food and beverage industry.
    • Term loan credit agreement with Huntington National Bank as documentation agent from 2023.
    • Biotech manufacturing agreement with Delaware governing.
  8. Your recent searches will be stored for 48 hours to help you pick up where you left off.
  9. Once your content sources are selected and your query is ready, hit enter or select the
    Search
    icon.
  10. You'll be redirected to the results page, where you'll see your search results as a tabbed list. Move across the different tabs to see the results of each content source.
    1. After performing a search, update the content sources you use to get different results by selecting
      Edit content sources
      .
    2. Select the content sources you want to include, and then select
      Save
      .
  11. Add additional filters to refine your results. Filters change depending on the content sources.
  12. For content within your DMS, see a detailed version of the results. AI generates additional insights on your documents.
  13. You can highlight key terms in your results.
  14. For some content sources, see a preview of your documents when selecting the document’s title. If the option is not available, the document will open in your browser.
  15. For SharePoint and OneDrive, open the Word results directly into the Word Desktop application with the Drafting tool open so you can start working right away.
  16. For DMS content, select multiple documents and create a CoCounsel Chat to interact with the available AI skills. If documents are not supported, you will be notified.
    1. Remove the failed files to continue with the process by selecting the
      x
      within the action column.
  17. Once you select
    Create new chat
    , you will see the uploading process in the bottom right corner of the screen.
    1. Minimize this screen and continue to navigate inside Knowledge Search. You can also cancel the chat creation at any time.
    2. Select
      Go to chat
      and you will be redirected to your new CoCounsel Chat.
