User options

The Options dialog allows a template author to configure settings that control certain aspects of the application. These settings are specific to the logged on user; if another user has installed Author on the same machine then their settings can be different to the first user, and any changes they make will not affect the first user.
The dialog can be displayed by clicking on the Options button in the
Contract Express
ribbon.
The dialog contains five tab pages, labeled: General, Issues, Servers, HighQ and Highlighting.

General page

User options General tab.
Confirm upload when template has errors
is a check box and the default is unchecked.
Contract Express Author
, as part of the upload process, does a complete usage analysis of the template, during which it may raise issues. These issues fall into four categories of increasing severity: information, warning, error and serious error. Serious errors always prevent publication and a message box appears to indicate this; information and warnings never do. If this check box is checked and usage analysis finds (non-serious) errors then a message box is presented asking the user to confirm that they which to proceed with the publication.
Confirm template properties on upload
is a check box and the default is unchecked. When checked, the template properties dialog is displayed each time a template is uploaded to Contract Express. This gives the template author an opportunity to review the version number prior to publication. Furthermore, if multiple instances of Contract Express are registered on the Servers page then these Servers will be presented in a dropdown on the template properties page enabling the user to select which server they wish to publish to. Note also that when this option is checked the user will receive a notification if the version that is to be published already exists in the template database.
Automatically save template before upload
is a check box and the default is unchecked. When checked, the author is forced to save the template before the template is uploaded to the template repository.
Remember user credentials after Word is closed.
When checked, you will not be prompted to re-enter your Contract Express credentials for 72 hours.
Use file based external dictionary.
When checked, the External Dictionary function will allow the user to browse to a local file to import variables rather than connect to Contract Express.
Don’t wrap text in the expression editor.
When checked, the expression editors will not wrap the text and a scroll-bar will appear to move horizontally across the expression.
Default Brackets
group contains four single character text boxes that allow the user to specify the open and close bracket characters for fields and spans, for example "{" for field open, "}" for field close, "[" for span open and "]" for span close. These bracket characters settings are used for new templates, but can be changed for an individual template using the Template setup dialog. Take care that you do not choose characters that you need in the template wording. It is also helpful to use natural pairs for better visual recognition, and to use single keystroke characters (rather than esoteric Unicode characters) for ease of entry when directly typing the mark-up.
Report
browse-able text box stores the location of an answer file template. Used in conjunction with the Report button, this defines the layout for the dictionary report including which variable attributes to output, styling and page layout. For example answer file templates please contact contractexpress-support@thomsonreuters.com.
Version
read only field shows the current version number of the
Contract Express Author
add-in assembly. This may be helpful if you ever have to report a problem to technical support.

Issues page

User Options Issues tab.
The top part of this page contains a list view of all the issues that
Contract Express Author
can raise against a template, the level of severity, the category of the error and the message. The check in the first column "Default" means that the level of severity has not been manually changed
When you select an issue, its details are displayed in the panel below the list view. You are able, subject to some constraints, to adjust the severity of individual issues to suit your personal preference. For example, you may wish to disable the warning that a question variable is not on the questionnaire, because this is your normal practice to test template logic with the system-generated questionnaire structure before formalizing your questionnaire structure.
Alternatively you may choose to enable certain warnings that are by default disabled to enhance troubleshooting of complicated templates. One example may be the "This mark-up element took longest to analyse" warning.

Servers page

User Options Servers tab.
The Servers page allows you to choose from uploading a template to Contract Express instances running on the SaaS platform or internally. You can add more Contract Express target servers using the Add button. To edit an existing server, first select the server and then modify the Name and Publish URL. Note that selecting a Server in this list will set the selected server as the default location to upload to.
If you publish to a private instance of Contract Express, either on-premises or hosted, you will need to add a new Server. When adding a new server you should enter the root URL for the application such as https://myfirm.Contract Express.com/app/. If you are a Contract Express for Salesforce customer, you must enter the Contract Express site URL, e.g. https://na1.Contract Express.com/app/ but you must also check the Salesforce checkbox. When publishing a template for use in Contract Express for Salesforce you will be asked to enter your Salesforce credentials before the publication occurs. If you are working with a Sandbox environment, then edit the Server settings and select the Sandbox checkbox.
