Apply the fund structure to an engagement

You can choose the fund structure when creating a new engagement or you can apply the fund structure to an existing engagement.
Before you apply the fund structure to an engagement, we recommend that you first set up one or more fund templates.
We do not recommend changing the fund template in an existing engagement unless you're going to set up all of your document formulas again.
  • If you change from one fund template to another fund template in an existing engagement, this will change the structure of the categories, types, funds, and subfunds in the trial balance (select
    Setup
    , then
    Funds
from the trial balance toolbar to display).
  • If you change from one fund template to another fund template in an existing engagement, then change it back to the originally selected fund template and save your changes, the formulas will be broken and need to be manually fixed again.
  • If you change from fund structure to another type of structure in an existing engagement, formulas in Word and Excel documents using the Engagement Manager toolbar will no longer work on the engagement. This happens because the unique IDs attached to every fund and subfund change as well.
  1. Do one of the following:
    • To apply the fund structure when you add a new engagement, select
      Fund
      from the
      Structure
dropdown in the Accounts section of the
      Reporting Periods
      screen.
    • To apply the fund structure to an existing engagement:
      1. Open the engagement, then select
        Properties
        .
      2. Select
        Trial Balance
        , then
        Fund
        from the
        Structure
        dropdown in the Accounts section.
  2. Choose to select a fund template or apply the fund structure without an existing hierarchy.
    • To apply the fund structure using one of your firm's fund templates, select a template from the
      Fund Template
      dropdown. Engagement Manager populates the
      Mask
field with the mask information from the template you selected and applied the associated fund hierarchy to the new engagement.
    • To apply the fund structure without an existing hierarchy, select
      New
      from the
      Fund Template
dropdown and specify the mask in the
      Mask
field to define the numbering system for associated accounts. After you create the engagement, you'll need to build the fund hierarchy in the Trial Balance tab.
