Aggregate beneficiary K-1s for e-file

This process takes parts of the XML file containing federal Schedule K-1s or New York beneficiary information and merges them into the final federal and New York XML file that's e-file.
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    ,
    General Information
    ,
    Basic Return Information
    .
  2. For
    Entity Type
, select Complex Trust ($100 exemption) or Complex Trust ($300 exemption).
  3. In each sub return, enter the income as it's in the primary return.
  4. Next, go to
    Organizer
    ,
    Beneficiary Info (1041)
    ,
    Beneficiary Data
    , and then
    Distribution Input - Totals
    .
  5. Enter the totals distribution for this sub return.
  6. Next in
    Organizer
    ,
    Beneficiary Info (1041)
    ,
    Beneficiary Data/Beneficiary Information
    , and then
    Individual Beneficiary Name
    .
  7. Enter the beneficiary's share of ordinary income distribution.
  8. Perform a full recompute of the return.
  9. Go to
    Organizer
    ,
    E-file
    , and then
    Enable/Create
    .
  10. Select
    Create Return E-files
. Be sure to review and address K-1 e-file reject diagnostics and K-1 XML validation errors. This step creates the XMLs that'll be aggregated into the primary return's federal and New York XMLs.
  11. Now in the primary return, go to
    Organizer
    ,
    E-file
    ,
    Attachments
    , and then
    K-1 Aggregation
    .
  12. Select
    Attach K-1 Aggregation XML File
    .
  13. In
    Attachment Jurisdiction
    , select Federal K-1 Aggregation.
  14. Browse
to and select the XML file that you created in these previous steps, and then select
    Upload
    .
  15. Select
    Done
    .
  16. Repeat this process for each XML file to be included. After attaching the XML files, confirm the XML attachment details are correct. The attached XML files must be validated to detect XML errors. If validation errors exist, delete the attachment, correct the errors, recreate the XML file, and re-attach.
  17. Still in the primary return, if the primary K-1 isn't to be included in the XML file, select
    Suppress system generated Federal K-1
    .
  18. On the
    K-1 Aggregation
page, override the total number of K-1s. This number will be included in the total number of K-1s of the aggregated XML file.
  19. This final step combines the federal K-1 files into the XML file of the primary return. Go to
    Organizer
    ,
    E-file
    , and then
    Enable/Create
    .
  20. Select
    Create Federal E-file
    .
  21. Download the e-file and review.
