Error Message [D-403] Part 4 Section C Line 18 must be equal to Part 4 Line 17 multiplied by 0.0475, rounded to the nearest whole dollar, if all of the following conditions are met: Election to be a Taxed Partnership is "No or blank", Part 4 Section A "NC Resident" is "No or blank", Part 4 Section C "NC-NPA Form attached" is "No or blank", Publicly Traded Partnership box in the Header is blank & Part 4 Section B Line 17 is greater than zero.

Cause

North Carolina Form D-403, Page 2, Part 4, Line 18 equals Line 17 multiplied by .0525.
This happens when the all of the following are met such as Election to be a Taxed Partnership is "No or blank", Part 4 Section A "NC Resident" is "No or blank", Part 4 Section C "NC-NPA Form attached" is "No or blank", Publicly Traded Partnership box in the Header is blank & Part 4 Section B Line 17 is greater than zero then the North Carolina Form D-403 Part 4 Section C Line 18 must be equal to the Form D-403 Part 4 Line 17 multiplied by 0.0475, rounded to the nearest whole dollar.

Solution 1

  1. In Tax Forms, select
    States
    , then
    North Carolina
    .
  2. Select Form D-403, then D-403, Page 3.
  3. In Part 4, select
    Partner Information
    .
  4. For all partners, make sure that Line 18 equals value must be equal to the calculated amount of Line 17 multiplied by 0.0475, rounded to the nearest whole dollar..
  5. If it doesn't, go to the Organizer then select
    States
    .
  6. Select
    North Carolina
     then
    State Adjustments
    .
  7. Check the overrides that were entered and make changes as necessary.
  8. Perform a full recompute, recreate the e-file, and resubmit the return.

Solution 2

  1. In Organizer, select
    States
    , then
    North Carolina
    .
  2. Go to
    Nonresident Partner Affirmation
    .
  3. If the partner has an
    X
     mark in the
    NC-NPA Active
     column this means the NC-NPA is attached.
  4. If NC -NPA is attached then Form D-403 Page 3 line 18 must be zero or blank.
  5. Perform a full recompute and recreate the e-file.
