AL20C-038 e-file error

Rule AL20C-038: Tax Forms/State/Alabama/20C - Tax Return/20C, Page 1, "Common parent Corporation" section at top of page 1. The common parent FEIN entered here must be that of the federal consolidated return submitted to and accepted by the IRS that is associated with this return. It must match the FEIN entered at Organizer/States/Common State/State E-file/Enable/ Create Returns/Federal Copy/Federal EIN column. All details entered on the federal copy tab must be those of the federal consolidated return submitted to and accepted by the IRS that is associated with this return. (#14/DIAG014).
This happens when Page 1 of Alabama Form 20C – Tax Return “Common Parent Corporation” EIN is not the same as the federal consolidated return submitted to and accepted by the IRS that is associated with this return.

  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    ,
    States
    , and select
    Alabama
    .
  2. Go to
    20C-C Consolidated Tax Return
    ,
    20C, Page 1
    , under the
    Federal Parent Name
    section.
  3. This must match the FEIN entered at
    Organizer
    ,
    States
    ,
    Common State
    ,
    General Information
    ,
    Basic Return Information
    , and
    Filing Status
    tab.
  4. Make sure the name is correct in Column I for Alabama.
  5. Go to
    Organizer
    ,
    States
    ,
    State E-file
    ,
    Enable/Create Returns
    ,
    Federal Copy
    , and
    Federal EIN Column G
    .
  6. Go to
    Step 1 – What to Consolidate
    , and select
    Subsidiary Listing Complete
    .
  7. Go to
    Step 4 – Review Preconsol Checklist
    , then
    Out of balance and compute pending
    tab.
  8. Select
    Compute subsidiaries with compute pending
    and
    Compute all subsidiaries now
    .
  9. Go to
    Step 5 – Consolidate
    and select
    Consolidate
    .
  10. Recreate the e-file and resubmit the return.
