EFIN verification
Starting with the January 2026 e-file season, the IRS now requires software vendors to verify EFINs for all return types (previously required only for 1040s).

EFIN Verification
to upload the documentation required for Thomson Reuters to verify the EFINs. No action is required for EFINs previously used to file 1040 returns in GoSystem Tax because they've already been verified.
important
Your firm won't be able to e-file tax returns in GoSystem Tax until your EFINs are verified by Thomson Reuters.
Improved E-File Diagnostics in 1040
GoSystem Tax now surfaces e-file schema validations and some business rules (E-File Diagnostics) for 1040s earlier in the tax prep workflow, when the tax return is computed. This change enables tax preparers to receive instant feedback and address potential e-file rejection issues as soon as they appear, eliminating the need to recreate e-files.
API Admin Portal
The new API administration portal supports firms in self-managing their GoSystem Tax integrations. Administrators can now configure API access, manage webhook settings, and oversee integration parameters through a streamlined interface. This self-service approach reduces setup time, eliminates support bottlenecks, and provides additional operational flexibility.
New API Automations
New API endpoints give firms greater control over their GoSystem Tax operations, eliminating manual bottlenecks and enabling automation at scale.
  • The
    Transfer Locator API
lets firms programmatically move or copy locators between subaccounts, supporting high-volume operations for transfers that would otherwise require manual intervention.
  • The
    Live API Get Filing Method
endpoint provides real time visibility into filing methods (e-file versus paper file) across active jurisdictions for tax returns across 1120, 1065, and 1041 tax types. Additional tax types will be added in a future release.
  • The
    Get Locations API
introduces 2 new endpoints that return user and group location details in a single, consistent response, streamlining user management tasks.
Closed issues
We resolved the following issues:
  • Certain e-file events were not being sent when actioned from the UI.
  • E-file events triggered via the API now include the originating JobID and LoginID.
  • Customers were unable to access Trial Balance Bridge on transferred locators.
  • The e-file Status API was returning 'Batch Status Unavailable' for certain cases.
  • Duplicate entries were appearing in the eFile Status API under a specific scenario where users have duplicate logins.
  • Locators copied with the API were not visible to the assigned user groups.
