Adding a Date or Event to a Document

Dates and events are milestones associated with matters. Examples of events include filing date or trial date. Examples of dates include due dates for status reports and unbilled amounts. You can add multiple dates or events to a document, contract, or SOP record.
To add dates or events to a document:
  1. Select
    Matters
    >
    Matter list
    in the left navigation.
  2. In the
    Matter/Group Name
    column, select the hyperlinked name of a matter to open it.
  3. Use one of the following procedures to create the date or event and add it to a document:
    • From the document, contract, or SOP profile page:
      1. Select the
        Documents
        tab.
      2. Select the name of the document.
      3. On document details window pane, on the
        Actions
        menu, select
        Create Date/Event
        and complete the form.
    • From the Date or event:
      1. Select the
        Events
        tab.
      2. On the toolbar, select
        Create Date/Event
        and complete the form.
      3. To associate the event with a specific document, under
        Related to Document
        , click the document.
Field
Details
Date
Type the date in the field or use the calendar icon to locate the date.
Date/Event type:
If you select the
Choose from List
option, you can use the dropdown to select a pre-defined date or event type from the list. If you select
Other
, you must enter a description in the field that appears.
Description/Comment
You can optionally add an explanatory comment.
Related to document
Click the
Select
button if you want to associate this date or event with a specific document. In the list that opens, click
Select
to select the document.
Display in Dates/Events / Reports
This is a read-only field that indicates whether the date or event is included in reports.
Access Security
Select an option to indicate which users will be able to view the event.
Person responsible
Select an option to indicate who is the point of contact for the event. If you want to select someone other than the person defined as the Lead Company Person, click
Select
and select a name from the list.
Email Notifications
Select an option to indicate whether an email notification will be sent.
  1. On the toolbar, select
    Save & close
    .

View or edit all dates and events related to a document

  1. Click
    Matters > Matters list
    in the left navigation.
  2. Open the relevant matter and select the
    Documents
    tab.
  3. Select the hyperlinked name of the document.
  4. Under
    All Dates & Events
    , select a hyperlinked event date.
