Moving a Document to a Different Matter

Required role | Matter Editor or higher for the source and target matter
In Tracker you can move documents to different matters. Keep in the mind the following:
  • You can move a document to a different matter, but not to a matter group.
  • Any associated events and documents are also moved--you cannot move related documents separately.
  • For Service of Process documents, the SOP Person Responsible must also have a Matter Reader role or higher for the target matter.
  • Firm Users cannot move documents that were created by company users.
  • Company Users can only move documents that they have added to Tracker.
  • Only Company System Administrators can move documents that were added to Tracker by other users.
To move a document:
  1. Select
    Matters
    >
     Matter list
    in the left navigation.
  2. Locate and click the matter to open it then click
    Documents
    .
  3. Double-click the document that you want to move, or right-click and select
    View Details.
  4. From
    Actions
    on the toolbar, select
    Move to Matter
    . (If you don't see the
    Move to Matter
    button, refer to the notes above regarding who can move documents to other matters.)
  5. Search for the target matter.
  6. In the
    Action
    column of the search results, click
    Move to
    by the name of the target matter.
To confirm the move was successful, open the target matter, click
Documents
, then find the document in the list.
