Viewing Financial Information for Matters

Users with the system role of Firm Administrator, Firm Office Administrator, Firm User + Billing or Third-Party Biller can view financial information for all matters. Tracker lets firm billing clerks and administrators view information by running reports against all matters or by viewing financial information within individual matters. However, when a matter is opened, these users can access only the financial information under
Invoices
and the user information under
Participants
. Firm Office Administrators may be further restricted to viewing financial information only for matters handled by their office.
The reason for this is that billing users need to review all matters for purposes of posting bills and running spending and budgeting reports. They cannot view matter details (for example, status reports) unless they are explicitly granted access to the matter as a participant or delegate of a participant. This preserves the attorney-client privilege and enforces the system rule that only matter participants can view non-financial information.
