Matters List Page

This page is your starting point for finding, reviewing, managing, and creating matters and matter groups.
  • You will see matters for which you are a direct matter participant, a delegate or have been given financial access. You will not see matters for which you are an indirect matter participant.
  • To find specific matters, you can use the dropdowns or specify search criteria to locate a matter.
  • To open a matter, select the hyperlinked name in the Matter/Group Name column.

Using This Page

Configure column and drawer settings
  1. Click the three small dots icon on the toolbar and select
    Edit column settings
    .
  2. On the Column Settings dialog, choose how you want each field to display:
    • Check the buttons under
      Column
for the fields that you want to appear on the page when it opens.
    • If you select
      Drawer
, that column does not show on the page but is visible in the Drawer when you can click the down arrow to the far right.
    • To hide a field completely, click the
      Off
      button next to the field.
Changing the number of rows displayed
You can change the number of rows you want to see on list pages in Tracker. In the side navigation, select
Preferences
from the Account menu, and then,in
Number of Items Per Page
, enter a number between 1 and 200. Choose a low number if you prefer seeing a shorter list and using page links to see more. Choose a higher number if you prefer scrolling through a long list over using page links. If you just want to see matters that require action or review, go to
Home >Action Items
and look at the Matters section.

Finding Matters

Find a Matter Using Dropdowns on the Matter List
To filter matters by pre-set or custom views, choose an option from the primary view selector above the matter list.
Selection
Description
Recently Visited Matters
Displays the last 20 matters you accessed.
My Favorite Matters
Displays the matters that you have marked as favorites. To mark a matter as a favorite, go to the matter’s profile screen. On the toolbar select the three small dots icon in the upper right, then select
Add to favorites
.
My Open Matters
Displays the matters you are responsible for. This is not necessarily a full list of all the matters you can access. A matter appears in this list if:
  • You are the Lead Company Person.
  • Another user accessed the matter and specifically granted you access as a Matter Administrator.
  • You are a delegate of a user who has access because of the first or second item listed above.
A matter will not display in this list if you have indirect access to the matter only (for example, your only access is because of a special organizational unit or practice group access). To determine if your access to a matter is indirect, open the matter, click
Participants
, change the first view selector to
All Who Have Access
then click
Change view
. If indirect access displays next to your name then you have indirect access to the matter.
All Open Matters I Can Access
Displays all of the open matters you can access.
All Closed Matters I Can Access
Displays all of the closed matters you can access.
Find a Matter Using Search

    Matter list
in the left navigation. If there are multiple pages of matters or invoices, you can use the page selector to page forward and backward through list.
  2. On the toolbar, click
    Search for matter
, then enter a value in the
    Matter Name
field or enter a value in the
    Field to Search
    dropdown.
  3. Click Generate list. Tracker shows a list of matters that fit your search request. To access a specific matter from this list, click on the name of the matter.
  4. If necessary, click
    Advanced search
, select from various criteria, then click
    Generate list.
If you can't find a matter
If you can't find a matter, try using the two suggestions below to find your matter. Remember, you only have access to a matter if you have been specifically given access to a matter (either expressly or implicitly through organizational unit and/or practice group access).
  • On the Matter list, use the view selector and select
All Open Matters I Can Access
. This selection is generally the easiest way to find a matter. After displaying all of the open matters you can access, you can then scan the list to find the applicable matter. Clicking on column headers will sort the list alphabetically or reverse alphabetically.
  • On the Matter list, use the view selector and select
All Closed Matters I Can Access
. Often a user cannot find a matter because it has been closed. After displaying all of the closed matters you can access, you can then scan the list to find the applicable matter.
After following the suggestions above, if you cannot find the matter, the matter does not exist or you do not have access to the matter.
