Entities

Entities are a critical component in Calendar. All Calendar due dates are created relative to an Entity and the information maintained about the entity is used to identify obligations and generate due dates.

Create an entity

To create an Entity, go to
Administration
,
Company Info
, then
Entities
.
Select
Add
.
Next, you will be prompted to provide the following information:
  • Entity Code
  • Entity Name
  • Country (optional)
  • Effective Start Date (optional)

Associate the entity

Next, you will need to associate the Entity with Calendar. To do this, select
Manage Apps
in the center of the screen.
Next, click the switch next to the purple calendar icon and select
Apply
.

Required fields

The Calendar tab of the Entity view identifies the data points required to allow Calendar to function effectively. You must provide:
  • Entity Name
  • Entity Code
  • Taxed As (corporation, flow through, etc.,)
  • Tax Year Start / Tax Year End
    • The month/day of the start of the tax/reporting year
    • The month/day of the end of the tax/reporting year
    • Note
: Calendar only supports full Tax Years

Optional fields

Additional fields included on the Calendar tab of the Entity may be needed for calculating due dates or identifying the correct obligations.
  • US Return Type
    • Required if using Calendar’s wizard for scheduling US obligations. Only Entities that have a US Return Type will be visible in the wizard.
    • Not required to schedule using import.
  • Incorporation/Qualification Details
    • The Entity’s Incorporation or Qualification Date in a jurisdiction may be required by some obligations to accurately determine the due date.
  • Registration Information
    • The Entity’s Tax ID / Registration number for a tax type in a jurisdiction may be needed by some obligations to accurately determine the due date.
  • Floating Year Information
    • If an Entity uses a Floating Tax Year (52/53 week year), Calendar will use that information instead of the Tax Year Start and Tax Year End Dates to calculate due dates.

Ready entities

Once you’ve entered and saved the required information, the progress indicator in the left navigation section will turn green to indicate that the Entity is ready. The indicator will not reflect 100% until all information (both required and optional) is completed.
