Accounting year end date e-file error

Accounting year end date: If you are filing an annual franchise tax report, the accounting year end date cannot be greater than January 4 of the report year.
You get this when the accounting year end date is later than the report year.
note
The report year pertains to the year the tax return was filed in. For example, if the return's being filed on 11/15/2023, then the report year would be 2023.

Solution

  1. Go to
    Tax Forms
    ,
    States
    , and then
    Texas
    .
  2. Select the
    applicable Franchise Tax Form
    : 05-158-A, 05-163, or 05-169, and review the accounting year end date.
  3. Next, go to
    Organizer
    ,
    State Franchise Tax
    ,
    Texas Franchise
    , and then
    General Information
    .
  4. Review and correct the
    Accounting year end date
    .
  5. Perform a full re-compute, re-create the e-file, then re-submit.
