To learn why a locator didn't rollover, you can review the return's history by selecting
Returns
, the locator, and then

.

Error 17: Filing status is missing

To fix this error:
  1. Go to
    Organizer
    ,
    General Information
    ,
    Basic Return Data
    ,
    Taxpayer Information
    .
  2. Select a filing status.
  3. Perform a full re-compute, close the return, and start the rollover again.

If a return isn't listed to rollover

Check the following:
  • Ensure no one has the locator open. If necessary, free the locator.
  • If the return's a final year return, it won't be listed to rollover.

Prior year data doesn't exist

If the prior year's return was never opened, the rollover fails.
To fix, open and compute the return before rolling over.

Rollover suppressed at Thomson Reuters

This means the return's suppressed.
To correct this:
  1. Go to the RS home page and select
    Returns Processing
    .
  2. Select
    Preseason Processing
    ,
    Preseason In Your Office
    ,
    Rollover
    , and then
    Suppress Rollover Setup
    .

Tax defaults don't exist

To fix this:
  1. On the RS home page, go to
    Support
    , and then
    Tax Defaults
    .
  2. Select the account, year, and then
    Rollover
    .
