IL1120B-3140-X e-file error

There are multiple variations of this reject code, but all relate to the partner types and pass-through withholding calculations.

Error codes and messages

The following table explains what reject codes and messages you could possibly receive.

If SchILB Line Section B Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col B contains a P or S, then the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col H must be equal to or greater than SchILB Line Section B Col G multiplied by 1.5% (.015).

If Sch B Step 2 Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of Sch B Step 2 Col B contains an I or M, then the same occurrence of Sch B Step 2 Col H must equal Sch B Step 2 Col G multiplied by 3.75% (.0375).

If Sch B Step 2 Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of Sch B Step 2 Col B contains a T or A, then the same occurrence of Sch B Step 2 Col H must equal the sum of Sch B Step 2 Col G multiplied by 3.75% (.0375) and Sch B Step 2 Col G multiplied by 1.5% (.015).

If Sch B Step 2 Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of Sch B Step 2 Col B contains a C or N, then the same occurrence of Sch B Step 2 Col H must equal the sum of Sch B Step 2 Col G multiplied by 5.25% (.0525) and Sch B Step 2 Col G multiplied by 2.5% (.025).

If SchILB Line Section B Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col B contains an I or M, then the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col H must be equal to or greater than SchILB Line Section B Col G multiplied by 4.95% (.0495).

If SchILB Line Section B Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col B contains a T or A, then the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col H must be equal to or greater than the sum of SchILB Line Section B Col G multiplied by 4.95% (.0495) and SchILB Line Section B Col G multiplied by 1.5% (.015).

If SchILB Line Section B Col G is greater than zero and the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col B contains a C or N, then the same occurrence of SchILB Line Section B Col H must be equal to or greater than the sum of SchILB Line Section B Col G multiplied by 7.0% (.07) and SchILB Line Section B Col G multiplied by 2.5% (.025).

Solution

Any of these rejections could be because there is an override in the Schedule B Summary. Make sure you don't have any overrides:
  1. In
    Tax Forms
    , go to
    States
     then
    Illinois
    .
  2. Select
    Sch B-Partner Identification
     then
    Schedule B
    .
  3. Go to the
    Schedule B, Page 2
     tab and select the
    Schedule B Summary
     link.
  4. Remove any overrides in the
    Partner Type (B)
     column. If you need to change the partner type:
    1. Go to
      Organizer
      Partner Information
      Partner by Partner Data
      .
    2. Select the partner's name, then
      Partner Information
      .
    3. On the
      Partner Information
       tab, go to the
      Partner Type
       section and select an option from the
      Type of entity (Leave blank - NOT allowed for e-file)
       field.
  5. Remove any overrides in in the
    Income subject to PTW (G)
     and
    Pass-through withholding before credits (H)
     columns. If these columns should be blank because they are exempt from payments:
    1. Go to
      Organizer
      Partner Information
      Partner by Partner Data
      .
    2. Select the partner's name, then
      Partner Information
      .
    3. On the
      State Partner Information
       tab, go to the
      Illinois
       section and select an option from the
      Partner was excluded from pass-through withholding payments
       section.
If there aren't any overrides, use the table to get details on what the state is expecting in Column H of the
Schedule B Summary

Column H must equal the sum of Schedule B, Section B, Column G * 3.75% + Section B, Column G * 1.5%. This corresponds to the amounts for the partner on Schedule K-1-P(3), Step 3, Lines 13 and Line 16.

Column H must equal the sum of Schedule B, Section B, Column G * 5.25% + Section B, Column G * 2.5%. This corresponds to the the amounts for the partner on Schedule K-1-P(3), Step 3, Lines 13 and Line 16.

Column H must be equal to or greater than Schedule B, Section B, Column G multiplied by 4.95% (.0495).

Column H must equal the sum of Column G multiplied by 4.95% and Column G multiplied by 1.5%.

Column H must equal the sum of Column G multiplied by 7% and Column G multiplied by 2.5%.
If you are attaching a K-1 aggregation file for Schedule B, review the calculation for the partners and column totals, make any corrections, and then reattach.
